Miromar Design Center kicks-off 2012 Distinguished Speaker Series

Estero, FL – Celebrity interior designer Joe Ruggiero kicks-off Miromar Design Center’s 2012 Distinguished Speaker Series on January 12.   The highly successful seminar series brings some of the world’s top names in interior design and architecture to Miromar Design Center. You will recognize Ruggiero from HGTV, the PBS award-winning series “This Old House” and his design segments on “Good Morning America.” The 30-year career veteran is also known nationally for his “Idea Houses” which showcase products and trends in lifestyle.  “The World of Design” is a highly animated presentation of Ruggiero’s personal and global design and color inspirations gleaned while traveling through 16 countries for his HGTV show.

“Interior designer or not, I believe that it is important for people to be inspired and to have them look outside the box,” Ruggiero says.  “Design legend Sister Parish always said “you can go to school to be trained but it is exposure to beautiful things all over the world that educates the eye to design.”  I will bring part of that world to Miromar Design Center.”

Ruggiero will also introduce his 2012 “American Lifestyles Collection” of Sunbrella fabrics for spring.  American-made using recycled yarns in denims, beige and grey they offer a comfortable feel and woven look. He has been designing fabrics for Sunbrella for nine years, a relationship that started when Sunbrella caught wind of his using the company’s outdoor fabrics on the furniture inside his own home.  Ruggiero says he was just looking for a way to “make his upholstery more durable for his grandchildren.”  The Joe Ruggiero collection of Sunbrella Fabrics is available at the new MP Interiors Textiles and Wall Coverings showroom at Miromar Design Center in Suite 340.   The seminar and a meet the designer reception are free and open to the public.  Seating is limited and RSVP is required online ONLY at www.MiromarDesignCenter.com .
