Alix G. Perrachon is a writer, speaker and consultant in the rug industry to the interior design trade and also private buyers. She has worked at “Hali” magazine, “The Oriental Rug Journal” of Oriental Carpets & Textiles and “The Oriental Rug” magazine. “The Oriental Rug” magazine was later renamed “Area Magazine.” Her articles on oriental and decorative weavings and antiques have also appeared in “House & Garden,” “Art & Auction,” “Antique Collector,” “Art & Antiques” and “The New York Times.”
Perrachon has lectured at numerous venues, including the Textile Museum in Washington, DC and continuing education classes and at ASID events. She has published, “The Decorative Carpet Fine Handmade Rugs in Contemporary Interiors” published by The Monacelli Press/ Random House in the Fall of 2010. This 256-page page book with more than 200 color illustrations is the first book to treat the decorating aspect of rugs. The book features the work of 32 celebrity designers, including: Penny Drue Baird, Juan Montoya, Clodagh, Jamie Drake, David Easton, Bunnie Williams and Vicente Wolf. It also addresses the needs of today’s buyer.
Perrachon has spoken about her book and the importance of handmade rugs in interior design at the High Point and Atlanta markets, the D& D building in New York, Boston, and Washington, DC, and at decorative rug retailers’ galleries in other locations. She has been appointed to the judging panel at the prestigious Carpet Design Awards in January 2012 in Hanover, Germany, the world’s leading floor coverings trade fair.
