“Meet Mr. Color”
Carleton Varney’s design philosophy stresses…"the use of bright colors and the rejection of all that is impractical, uncomfortable and drab."
$15 admission (includes 1-hour presentation and wine reception book signing)
Keynote speaker for the inaugural Home Design Show, Carleton Varney will discuss his life in the decorating world, the legendary Dorothy Draper and the many people he has met over the years in his decorating adventures. Varney will touch upon his use of happy colors to create “happy environments” and recall anecdotes of his decorating experiences with many celebrity clients – including Joan Crawford, Ethel Merman and Polly Bergen. He will recall the days when he was the decorator and stylist of many State Dinners at The White House. In addition, Varney will talk about his association with many of the world famous hotels and resorts that he has decorated over the years, both in the United States and overseas - including the Greenbrier, the Grand Hotel, The Waldorf Towers, The Breakers and Dromoland and Ashford Castles in Ireland, and his decoration of the U.S. Embassies in Japan and Ireland.
Seating is limited. This will be a SOLD-OUT event. Please RSVP by January 27, 2012.
