Keynote Speaker for the 2013 Home Design ShowDid you know that chimney stacks were status symbols? Or that homes with more than six windows were taxed? Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill will reveal life behind the scenes in some of the most beautiful homes in the UK and the US from the last 300 years. A noted authority on period homes and historic styles, author of 11 books, columnist for the “Financial Times,” owner of two interior design firms, Lady Henrietta recently launched an elegant furniture line inspired by 18th century European designs and infused with contemporary appeal for Maitland Smith available at Henredon Interior Design Showroom in Miromar Design Center.

The daughter of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and distant cousin of Sir Winston Churchill, Lady Henrietta grew up in Blenheim Palace, studied at the Inchbald School of Design and formed her company in 1981 where she works on design projects world-wide. Other achievements include the restoration of novelist Edith Wharton’s library and a fabric collection based on the artwork of her ancestor – the Duchess of Marlborough.

Following Lady Henrietta’s presentation, you are invited to a reception where she will personally sign her new book “The Life of the House: How Rooms Evolve,” which will be available for purchase.
